Per figures released by Israel, at least 98 detainees from Palestine have perished during detention beginning in October 2023. A rights monitoring body operating from Israel has stated that the actual toll is almost certainly considerably greater, due to many of disappeared individuals in Gaza.

Several casualties in confinement have been widely reported, such as a 50-year-old healthcare leader who perished in confinement after 120 days in custody.

A prisoner detained alongside the victim reported that he was led to the courtyard by prison staff shortly before his demise, clearly wounded and exposed from the waist down. His corpse remains unreleased to Gaza.

Other prisoners who died in detention in Israel are unidentified. Detention administrators and defense forces gave analysts with the total of casualties in detention, and basic additional information for example the facility where they died, but excluding the detainees’ identities.
